Abidjan, December 11, 2019 - The Société de Gestion des Stocks Pétroliers de Côte d'Ivoire (GESTOCI) tested, on December 11, 2019 in Abidjan, its loss prevention and management system, through a simulation of the occurrence of 'a fire at its Abidjan-Vridi facilities.
According to the director general of GESTOCI, Ibrahima Doumbia, the objective of this exercise is to protect people, facilities and the environment. It is also a question of setting up scenarios likely to occur. “GESTOCI is a high risk pregnant. This is why it is important for us, each time, to carry out simulation exercises to set up scenarios likely to occur, to prevent with promptness, any risk of fire on the installations ”, has he explains.
And to insist: "It is our duty to protect the facilities. It is important to do this exercise to improve your safety. Safety is priceless at the facility level. "
This simulation concerned an alert of the occurrence of a fire on the GESTOCI installations in Abidjan-Vridi. Immediately, the general manager triggered the internal operation plan. The perimeter was cordoned off and the non essential personnel evacuated. The internal GESTOCI teams were supported by their partners, which are the SIR, PETROCI, the GSPM, the gendarmerie, the police, the CIAPOL and the SAMU.
